How to Get Bigger Muscles

Have you ever had the feeling you’re just spinning your wheels? That’s how I’ve felt after almost 17 years of only partially successful weight training. I’ve tried it all: Bowflex®, gym memberships, cardio, swimming, training to failure…I won’t say I haven’t had results, because I have, but you would think after 17 years I wouldn’t still be fighting the battle of the bulge. Unfortunately, that has been the case until recently.

My problem has always been that I have never shelled out for proper instruction. Sure, I’ve swapped ideas with gym buddies, read magazines, copied techniques from other successful body builders. The problem is, I don’t really understand what most of these techniques and exercises really do, or how they relate to other exercises. I’ve never actually spoken with a professional trainer to help me create a program that works for me.

I believe that many of us are in the same boat: we’re all trying to learn how to get bigger, but we don’t really understand what we’re doing. Most of us wouldn’t think of stepping into the cage with someone like Anderson Silva or George St-Pierre without any kind of instruction first. And yet everyday, people step into the gym for the first time and expect to become the next Vince DelMonte.

When it doesn’t happen, it is very discouraging. You see, there are very few of us that are gifted with the genetics and discipline to be able to become a successful body-builder without actually learning how to do it properly. For most of us, we need to learn the hard way how to get bigger muscles and improve our strength.

And it does make a difference. I see people in the gym everyday who are doing things that are potentially harmful, besides being a complete waste of time. But who am I to step in? Imagine, you’re at the gym doing this new exercise you just learned and some big guy with a fat belly comes up and says: “Excuse me sir, you’re doing it all wrong.” But let me tell you people, if there’s one thing I’ve learned (mostly the hard way), it’s that technique really does matter. You have to know what you’re doing.

The problem is, who does a regular guy like you or me turn to? I don’t have $75 a session to pay for a personal trainer. Fortunately for us, there are a lot of pros out there these days who are taking advantage of the internet to publish high-quality fitness programs that are just a mouse click a way, and usually for less than the price of a single session with a personal trainer. These guys know their stuff, and if you want to learn how to get bigger, I highly recommend checking them out.

Take control, don’t make the same mistakes I did! It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, there is a program out there that can work for you! And it’s just a mouse click away.

Matt
